Medical Ambulatory Centre Commences Operations, the new Medical Ambulatory Centre (MAC) commenced operations on 5 January 2015. Housing both the Medical Day Centre and Sleep Laboratory, MAC functions as a short stay facility where patients are managed and discharged within 24 hours, instead of being admitted as inpatients.

In doing so, inpatient beds are freed for acute hospital admissions, thus helping to reduce the wait time for a bed and prevent any unnecessary delay in treatment. Examples of cases accepted at MAC are elective procedures ranging from blood transfusion to bone marrow aspiration, as well as polysomnography. With this new facility, various process improvements have also been implemented, e.g. Real-time online bed booking system, streamlining of patient flow (one-stop service @ MAC).

KUDOS TO THE AJC-ians! Students from the Anderson Junior College has set the motion in the local school institutions to engage in several volunteer activities at the Patient Care Centre to help the marginalised group of patients living with HIV/AIDs. Thanks to the ardent support of the teacher-in-charge, Ms Toh Hui Choo, who understands that people living with the disease are still very much stigmatised and discriminated by the society. In order to usher the new year fresh, students helped with spring cleaning at the Centre and making craft oranges for sales for preparations of the Lunar New Year. The Centre certainly looks forward to working with the students on various community projects to benefit patients. The 'Nice and Naughty' Christmas Decoration Winners!
